Dr Irosh Fernando
MBBS, MD(Psychiatry), FRANZCP, MBiostat, MPhil, PhD.
Fellow of the Royal Australian, New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
Conjoint Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine and Public Health, Faculty of Health, University of Newcastle.
Dr Fernando has been working in psychiatry for NSW Health, primarily Hunter New England Area Health since 2006. He also previously worked as a consulting psychiatrist for Toronto Private Hospital.
Dr Fernando is passionate about understanding psychiatric illnesses caused by complex interactions between psychological, social and biological factors affecting each individual. Trained and worked both locally and overseas, Dr Fernando has developed a broader perspective and experience in understanding and treating psychiatric illnesses. Dr Fernando obtained his PhD from the University of Newcastle and Master of Biostatistics from the University of Sydney, which has enabled him to pursue his research passion to understand psychiatric illnesses.
